Eligibility & Process

Nagle Pre-School participates in the central enrolment program managed by the Bayside City Council. Parents can submit kindergarten applications via an online portal between 1 May and 30 June in the year prior to their child's attendance. We recommend you enrol your child for both 3 and 4 year old kindergarten at the same time.

  • Children must have turned 3 years of age by 31 January to be eligible to attend three year old kindergarten in that year.
  • Children must have turned 4 years of age by the 30 April to be eligible to attend four year old kindergarten in that year.

Places for the Kindergarten program within the City of Bayside are allocated according to a number of criteria and a computerised weighting priority system applied. Information regarding the criteria for the Bayside Central enrolment scheme, as well as the enrolment application form, can be obtained from Bayside City Council website at:

The weighting system is based on five criteria for 3 year old and six criteria for 4 year old.

The criteria are:

  • Weighting 40% - Bayside resident
  • Weighting 20% - Proximity to the kindergarten (2 km radius)
  • Weighting 5% - Evidence of a tie to Bayside
  • Weighting 10% - Maternal and Child Health Assessment
  • Weighting 10% - Sibling preference
  • Weighting 15% - Continuity at the kinder (applicable for 4 year old kindergarten only)

There are three rounds of offers which occur as part of the central enrolment program. You will be notified if your child has been offered a place at Nagle Pre-School in August and September each year and sent information about this. If accepting an offer for your child to attend Nagle Pre-School, you will need to return paperwork with a deposit of $50. This is non-refundable.

A 3 year old place does not guarantee a 4 year old place at the same kindergarten. However, where possible, continuity will be provided.

You can also directly contact the Nagle Enrolment Officers should you wish to enrol at any other time during the year.

Immunisation Requirements

In 2018 the 'No Jab, No Play' legislation was amended so that an Immunisation History Statement from the Australian Immunisation Register (AIR) is the only form of documentation accepted for the purposes of enrolling a child in an early childhood education and care service.

Previous forms of documentation, for example a letter from a GP or local council, are no longer accepted.
